Friends' Central High School_____ Penn State University_____ ISP Project: The Effect of EGFR and EGFR Inhibitor Gefitinib on Fly Development_____ Extracurriculars: Fox Chase Cancer Center Student Fellowship, Tang Soo Do karate club_____ My favorite holiday is Fourth of July because I get to spend time with family and relatives. My favorite dessert is half-baked chocolate chip cookies because cookies. My favorite movie is the Dark Knight because I think my autobiographical performance as Batman was phenomenal.
Merion Mercy Academy_____ University of Pennsylvania_____ ISP Project: BRACA2 Mutants and the effects of 5FU_____ I worked with the Testa lab at Fox Chase to help process and karyotype bone marrow samples in the cytogenetics facility and then worked as a lab assistant in the main lab doing bench work, cancer drug testing with mice, and mouse colony maintenance. I currently work in the Gilliland Lab at the Abrahamson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania with t-cells_____ Extracurriculars: Art Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Literary Bears book club,Image Explosion Literary Magazine, Rowing_____ My favorite holiday is National Bat Appreciation day. My favorite food is anything with MSG. I love PCR. And my favorite smell is cookies in the oven.
Council Rock High School North_____ University of Notre Dame_____ ISP Project: Determining the Potency of EGFR-Targeting Cancer Drugs in Fruit Flies_____ During the ISP, I tested the potency of different EGFR-targeting cancer drugs in fruit flies, which I did by examining the number of progeny produced and the mutations found in those progeny. Then, in Dr. Chernoff's lab under the supervision of Dr. Maria Radu, I performed an experiment cloning CDK16 in a pEGFP vector. Now, at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, I am in the CHOP Research Institute Summer Scholars Program (CRISSP) and am conducting a retrospective study on nerve block procedures in patients with headaches to determine how the use of different medications in nerve blocks affects the outcome of the procedure_____ Extracurriculars: Softball travel team high school varsity team captain, National Honor Society – president, Therapy dog handler, Volunteer in NICU at Memorial Hospital South Bend, Commissioner for “Hannah's House” a charity that helps struggling mothers, running - ran Holy Half marathon, piano, member of GlobeMed, RareND, Global Health Brigades, and Timmy Global Health (pre-med clubs at Notre Dame)_____ I taught myself how to juggle!

Project worked with familial colon cancer. North Penn_____ University of Pittsburgh_____ ISP Project: The Effects of Gefitinib on the EGFR and hedgehog pathways_____ I am at the Cukierman lab during my summer and winter breaks at FCCC where I investigated the role of the extracellular matrix and fibroblasts in nurturing a tumor promoting environment. I am also at the Roy lab in the bioengineering department here at Pitt where I am looking into profilin regulation of EMT induced cells_____ I like to golf and enjoy volunteering at UPMC and with Habitat for Humanity_____ Food- steak, Artist- flume, Turtle- Augustus
Germantown Friends School_____ ISP Project: The effects of alfalfa on global gene expression in drosophila_____ I am currently working on a research project in my advanced biology class, examining the relationship between the three subgroups of mammals, prototheria, metatheria, and eutheria_____ Right now I am working in an after school program called Breakthrough as a middle school teacher. I am teaching social studies, and currently we are looking at civil rights. I am also on the track team at my school as a sprinter. I also am teaching an environmental class to second graders at my school, Germantown Friends School, to help them in becoming more environmentally conscious_____ If I had a pet turtle I would name it Shelley. My favorite dessert is ice cream cake. My favorite book is Song of Solomon. I basically only wear sneakers, but I'll wear any brand. My ideal breakfast is chocolate chip pancakes with syrup (breakfast is my favorite meal).

Neshaminy High School_____ Ursinus College_____ ISP Project: Does Pantothenic Acid cause ovarian cells to die?_____Summer of 2014 along with this current summer (2015) I have been working in Dr. Stephen Sykes lab alongside one of his post-docs from Italy, Daniela DiMarcantonio. Dr. Sykes' lab focuses on figuring out the molecular abnormalities in Acute Myeloid Leukemia, AML. Currently, under Daniela's work, we are observing the role of down modulating Protein Kinase C epsilon in AML cells_____ Extracurriculars: In high school my main extracurricular activities were travel soccer, JV and varsity basketball, science club, volunteering at my local hospital, and tutoring at Kumon. I carried my passion for volunteering to college where I am currently a Bonner Leader. I currently volunteer about 10 hours a week with various Latin American non-profit organizations mainly tutoring. I am also part of the Minority Association for Pre-Health Students_____ My favorite holiday is Christmas because I like giving & receiving gifts. If I had a pet turtle I would name him Squirt! Penncrest High School_____ Drexel University-Pennoni Honors College_____ ISP Project: The Effects of Bitter Orange on the Developing Drosophila Melanogaster_____ I was just accepted to the STAR (Students Tackling Advanced Research) Scholars program at Drexel. This is a program where students are paid to conduct research during the summer after their freshman year. Though it's not definite yet, I'd like to do some sort of clinical research project_____ I was a swimmer and played the oboe in high school, and I was also the president of the medical scholars club. Now, I'm on the women's crew team at Drexel, and I also volunteer in the NICU at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children_____ My favorite holiday is Christmas Eve. My favorite book is ""The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I spend my Friday nights painting and watching 80's movies_____ I'm majoring in health sciences and I'm also in an accelerated physician assistant program. In addition, I recently decided to add a minor in nutrition-my interest in which was sparked during ISP! ISP really got me thinking about the efficacy and side effects of supplementation, and opened my eyes to the field of nutrition. I hope to conduct more research regarding supplements in the future.

The focus of the lab is medulloblastoma initiation and progression mechanisms_____ Extracurriculars: Volleyball, Track and Field_____ My ideal breakfast is two pancakes, one chocolate chip and the other blueberry, a cup of coffee and a banana, all eaten outside on a sunny day.
Spring-Ford High School_____ Penn State, University Park_____ ISP Project: Element 34, Brains, and Why You Should Care_____ Working with a few of my classmates, I developed a mathematical model which projected the cost of attending a college for Moody's Mega Math Challenge. Although we didn't make it to the top six, we placed in the top 15% of all papers_____I'm a total space nerd, so lately I've been involved in astrophotography. Whenever its not too cloudy / cold, I'll set up my telescope and take some photos of the night sky_____My idea breakfast is waking up at noon and eating lunch. Favorite books are anything by Richard Feynman (the guy is / was a total genius). My music taste is weirdly eclectic, and any attempts to list them all would be a difficult task.

My favorite smell is the smell of home depot_____ Relatively clumsy-well known outside of the lab for my dingus-y catch phrases (e.g. ""True chains"", ""nuggets"" ""flippity flip"")-was originally wanting to major in Chemical Engineering, but my time at Immersion has made me consider Biomedical Engineering

I was selected to be in the Penn Summer Science Initiative at the University of Pennsylvania and the Materials Science and Engineering Program at Drexel University.

Council Rock South_____ ISP Project: Effect of Garlic on Rolled 1 mutant_____ I participate in cross country (my favorite sport) and spring track (events: 800m and the mile). I am the co -president of our school's AIDS awareness club. I am in English honor society and science honor society and Vice President of social studies honor society (this one requires the most service hours). I also love yoga!_____ My favorite foods include pasta, edamame, fish tacos, and apples and peanut butter. My favorite protocol is dissecting third instar larvae and taking out their intestines. I usually spend my Friday nights babysitting or hanging out with my twin siblings and our two best friends. My favorite smell is either cinnamon or the beach and my favorite dessert is anything involving chocolate_____ I learned not to drink a giant mug of coffee before dissecting larvae □.

Back in 8th grade, I participated in the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee (which is every speller's dream)!
